June brings with it sunshine (we live in hope), picnics in the park and the opening of our new restaurant The Rise.
It also hosts many exciting events, this lively City is always busting at the seams with new adventures and activities; we’ve selected our top picks for you!
Eboracum Roman Festival 1st – 4th June
Taking place in York Museum Gardens, this event suitable for all ages features a packed program of events including displays, exhibits and activities. Take a look at domestic Roman life, and purchase themed goods from the various stalls.
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, 50 Romans will march through the streets. Don’t miss The Yorkshire Museum too, which houses some of Britain’s most treasured Roman artefacts, where further activities and workshops will take place.

York Food and Drink Festival Taster 10th – 11th June
Get a taste of what to expect from the main food and drink festival in September. Our very own Chef, Craig Rogan, will be in the Chef Demonstration tent on the 10th June at 2pm – so come along and get a taste of what The Grand’s newest restaurant, The Rise is all about and see the team in action!
York LGBT Pride Saturday 10th June
This year's theme is Hold Hands with Pride, highlighting the issues that LGBT individuals face which should be second nature! The event last year had 8,000 attendees and they hope to continue their growth this year so support and hold hands with pride.

All or Nothing 6th – 8th June
All or Nothing is a musical celebrating the iconic sound of the British ‘Mod’ band, Small Faces.
Everything is Possible: The York Suffragettes 20th June – 1st July
Taking you back to 1913, when women began to demand change and equality! The story follows the revolution as a York housewife risks everything to join in the fight! A large-scale community project with a cast of 150, the performance will begin outdoors before moving on to the stage. There’s also the chance to become a York Suffragettes Firestarter where you will receive exclusive membership benefits.
York Races 16th – 17th June
Sipping on Champagne, hoping you have backed the right horse and a day out with friends… we too love the races! The June meeting takes place on the 16th and 17th June, and is the biggest charity meet in Britain, so you can raise money for Macmillan all whilst having fun! Kick off your day with our Race Day Brunch too.
