21st July – 6th August: The Great Yorkshire Fringe
Comedy, magic and theatre shows take over Parliament Street throughout these two weeks adding an electric atmosphere and street fun to the already bustling streets. Now in its 3rd year, there is something for everyone. Check out the program of events and book your tickets:
30th July: Mad Hatter's Themed Afternoon Tea Party
Don't be late for a very important date as Mad Hatter's Themed Afternoon Tea Party returns to The Grand York, with a buffet of treats all inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
1st August: Yorkshire Day
We have our very own day, after all, Yorkshire is Gods own country. Where else is better to celebrate this day than in York – a stunning city filled with charm, charisma, character and a lot of friendly folks. Choose to enjoy local, seasonal produce in The Rise Restaurant, Terrace & Bar – where you can share a selection of small plates for a delicious feast.
20th August: Castle Howard Proms Spectacular
An enjoyable evening for the whole family welcomes Brit Award winners Blake and rising classical star Joanna Forest who will be joined on stage by the London Gala Orchestra. A Spitfire will open the Proms, with a laser and firework finale.
28th August: Autohorn Micklegate Run Soapbox Challenge
Returning after a triumphant first year, which saw Micklegate brought to life as crowds cheered the efforts of this fun and challenging event, we are sure this years event will be even more successful.
20th - 23rd September: York Beer and Cider Festival
The 8th Annual York Beer and Cider returns in September at the Knavesmire. The largest outdoor beer festival in the North of England offers an abundance of ales, ciders and perries from all over Yorkshire and internationally too.
22nd September – 1st October: York Food and Drink Festival
After a successful Taster Festival, the annual York Food and Drink Festival returns this September, filling Parliament Street with great smelling and tasting food. Eat street food, buy local produce, be inspired by York’s amazing calibre of Chefs as they demonstrate dishes from their menus – including ours so be sure to keep an eye out for dates and times when they are confirmed.
29th September – 1st October: York Balloon Fiesta
We are extremely excited about this new event coming to the Knavesmire this year and can’t wait to see the sky filled with an array of colours as the York Balloon Festival arrives, the event is free to attend. A Grand Festive Celebration

The Grand is putting on a traditional horse and carriage, decorated to suit the season including cosy blankets, and will be offering mulled drinks and mince pies before taking visitors on a whistle-stop tour of the city of York.
