COVID-19 update

Dear valued guests,

Since temporarily closing our doors, our team have been implementing extra precautions and procedures to ensure our hotel is still a decadent, yet safe and comfortable environment for both guests and staff. 

After consulting Public Health England and studying global cleanliness initiatives, we have developed an extensive list of protocols and standards that go beyond the required guidelines.

Some of our new protocols are as follows:

– Face coverings must always be worn in hotel public areas

– Check-out can now take place from the comfort of guest rooms

– A one-way system is in place throughout the hotel

– Lifts should not be shared with people outside of your household

The health, safety and well-being of our guests, teams and friends has always been of the greatest importance to us. Therefore, new measures have been put in place to ensure social distancing and heightened cleanliness and sanitation can be met. For full details of our Care Commitment, please click here.

During this current “staycation” period we have noticed that many of our guests would like to check-in early and although we would love to welcome all our guests as soon as possible, sometimes an early check-in may not be feasible.

Following the COVID-19 outbreak, we have introduced stringent hygiene protocols which subsequently means that rooms take longer to service. Therefore, whilst an early check-in may not be possible, our team are happy to store your luggage to ensure you can use our facilities or explore the city of York at leisure.

To ensure social distancing guidelines are met, we have reduced the capacity in our spa. Therefore, we require you to book your one-hour time slot in the spa prior to arrival. Please contact us via 01904 380038 or email spa@thegrandyork.co.uk.

Please be advised that due to government restrictions, our bars and restaurant will close at 10pm. Guests are required to have finished their meal and/or drinks and vacated our food and beverage areas by 10pm. In-room dining will still be available for guests of the hotel post 10pm and we will be delighted to serve you from the comfort of your bedroom.

For our guests’ peace of mind, we have added flexibility to all bookings, including free cancellations up to 4pm on the day prior to arrival and are allowing guests to postpone their stays if required.

Guests who have booked our Advanced Purchase Rate for arrival dates prior to 31/10/20 will also benefit from our flexible cancellation policy.
