Escape to the North York Moors and enjoy an unforgettable stargazing experience. Having received International Dark Sky Reserve status in December 2020, the skies of the North York Moors have been recognised as one of the best spots for stargazing.
Relax and unwind with a two course meal and one-night stay to complement this experience. When arriving at the moors, enjoy a Grand treat to indulge under the night sky. After a successful launch in 2021, we have added more dates for 2022/2023. Each experience is the perfect opportunity to cosy up and see a multitude of stars, and with Yorkshire’s horizons, stargazing will be a night to remember.
9th March 2022 (FULLY BOOKED) – enjoy a beautiful half moon in the sky, set among the lovely stars of the constellation of Taurus.
Wednesday 5 October 2022 – An evening dominated by the giants of the solar system – Jupiter and Saturn. The moon will also be well placed for viewing with powerful telescopes.
Tuesday 11 October 2022 – Another chance to view the rings of Saturn and the giant planet of Jupiter, plus a spectacular near full moon will be rising in the east over the moors.
Wednesday 16 November 2022 – This is the night before the famous Leonid meteor shower peaks, increasing our chance of seeing shooting stars. We will also be able to admire the Milky Way arching overhead.
Tuesday 22 November 2022 – The Milky Way, Jupiter, Saturn and super red Mars will all be on show during this dark night.
Thursday 12 January 2023 – The great winter constellations of Orion and Taurus will look their very best along with glittering star clusters and nebula.
Monday 30 January 2023 – Mars is well placed alongside the moon which buzzes close to the famous Seven Sisters star cluster.
Tuesday 14 February 2023 – A Valentine’s night with the stars! The moon is absent so that means the sky will be at its starriest, with the constellations shining like diamonds on velvet.
Monday 27 February 2023 – A celebration of the moon – our near neighbour – which is in the perfect phase for viewing, showing off its amazing mountains and deep craters.
