Relax and unwind with a meal at The Rise Restaurant and one-night stay to complement this experience. When arriving at the moors, enjoy a Grand treat to indulge under the night sky. After a successful launch in 2021, we have continued to deliver this with some new dates for Autumn/Winter 2023 and into 2024. Each experience is the perfect opportunity to cosy up and see a multitude of stars, with Saturn and Jupiter gracing the sky. With Yorkshire’s horizons, stargazing will be a night to remember.

The Grand’s partnership with the stargazers of North York Moors provides the ideal experiential autumn or winter stay, whether a staycation or travelling to visit the sights of Yorkshire. 

A city hotel, but close enough to venture out to the beautiful countryside, we provide access to both sides of the county. From stargazing under the Yorkshire sky to expert guidance from Astronomer Richard Darn, leave the Dark Skies experiences feeling relaxed and enchanted.

We encourage guests to wrap up warm, wear sensible outdoor shoes, bring a torch, and lastly, a sense of adventure!
